TeachMeets

TeachMeets are free, informal, collaborative experiences organised by educators, for educators, in order to share ideas, good practice, practical innovations and personal insights in teaching to support each other's professional growth.  TeachMeets are centered around a key topic or question for sharing and discussion.

The Capital City Kāhui Ako has been using this format of PLD to provide opportunities for teachers to connect and collaborate around educational topics that are of interest and relevance to them. We try to respond to issues 'of the moment'.

Format: Anyone can host a TeachMeet, all teachers are potential hosts and participants.  Typically a TeachMeet has a person to facilitate discussion and one or two other educators who provide a
brief micro-presentation (two – five minutes) on their ideas to other interested teachers.  Then other teachers are invited to discuss and share their thoughts, practices and innovations. TeachMeet takeaways include the notes recorded of discussion and shared ideas, innovations and micro-presentations.
