Within School Teachers Hui - 24 October 2019

It was great to meet with the Within School Teachers who have been appointed on Thursday 24th October together with the Across School Leads at Wellington High School. Our Within School Teachers so far are:  Anna Reeve, Kyle Webb, Maeve Reid, Nat Bell, Roger Mantel and Whakamarurangi Chadwick (Wellington High School); Julie Hanify (Ridgway School); Debbie Purves and Amy Head (Newtown School); Paul Cooper and Ella Kilpatrick (SWIS); and Nathan Crocker and Maria Whiting (Island Bay School).

We discovered hidden talents and interests in an icebreaker and then moved on to identify how each of the Within School Teachers connected with our three challenges:

• Cultural Identity Strong and Secure: All our students will report that they feel strong in their language, culture and identity through Cultural Relationships for Responsive Pedagogy.
• Hauora and wellbeing: Our learners and whānau will have a high level of wellbeing in order to engage with learning
• Capabilities for living and lifelong learning: Our learners will strengthen the dispositions required to develop “capabilities for living and lifelong learning”

The Within School Teachers will now be liaising with their principals to develop an inquiry that aligns with these challenges and the interests of their schools.
