Yay, data and lots of thought provoking ideas associated with it!
On Wednesday, 30th October the Across School Lead team, principals and SMT had the opportunity to work on the Kāhui Ako Wellbeing@School data with Cathie Johnson and Julie Roberts from NZCER. Cathie gently lead us through a process of identifying what we thought the data would show and what our assumptions are, so we could challenge or affirm our assumptions with the evidence. Each of our schools will now have more of a framework to use when looking at their own Wellbeing@School data. The Across School Lead team will be working with the schools to understand their evidence more fully and refine the most vital areas for our collective attention. We are looking forward to making sense of the data so we can decide what our next evidence gathering steps will be.

Our Kāhui Ako needs to be grounded in our local history and knowledge of our past as we look to the future. One of our challenges focuses on cultural capability and the importance of all our learners being able to connect themselves to the curriculum.
So, it was a wonderful opportunity, on 25 October, for a number of our Across School Leads, Within Schools Leads and staff to visit Pukeahu Education centre to hear Morrie Love, Te Atiawa and Chair of Wellington Tenths Trust, tell his stories of Pukeahu and the development of what is now the modern War Memorial Park. There is strength to be had in working collaboratively across networks. Kāhui Ako work as networks and are aligned around the learning pathway of young people in geographical area. In Wellington, students access a wide range of schools across the area, and the pathways are less clear than in other areas of Aotearoa. So, it makes sense for the Kāhui Ako teams across Wellington to be connected for support and sharing.
In September, with the support of the Ministry of Education, the following Kāhui Ako lead teams met for an afternoon: Capital City Kāhui Ako (South),Te Kāhui Ako o te Whanganui-a-Tara (West), Motu Kairanga Kāhui Ako (in the East), Tawa Kāhui Ako, and the Wellington Catholic Schools Kāhui Ako. We shared experiences, advice for working across schools and early thoughts on how we might move forward together into 2020. It was great to meet with the Within School Teachers who have been appointed on Thursday 24th October together with the Across School Leads at Wellington High School. Our Within School Teachers so far are: Anna Reeve, Kyle Webb, Maeve Reid, Nat Bell, Roger Mantel and Whakamarurangi Chadwick (Wellington High School); Julie Hanify (Ridgway School); Debbie Purves and Amy Head (Newtown School); Paul Cooper and Ella Kilpatrick (SWIS); and Nathan Crocker and Maria Whiting (Island Bay School).
We discovered hidden talents and interests in an icebreaker and then moved on to identify how each of the Within School Teachers connected with our three challenges:
The Within School Teachers will now be liaising with their principals to develop an inquiry that aligns with these challenges and the interests of their schools. Our Kāhui Ako across school leads met with Cathie Johnson from NZCER, on Tuesday, 15 October 2019, at Wellington High School. The focus of the hui was to unpack our Kahui Ako Wellbeing survey data. With Cathie's support and guidance we:
